How to treat a cough:
Most coughs are caused by cold and flu, but can also be caused by smoking, allergies such as hay fever, infections like bronchitis or by mucus dripping down the throat from the back of the nose.
It is advised to go and see a GP if you’ve had a cough for more than 3 weeks, it is very bad or quickly gets worse or you have chest pain.
Who can use this product:
It can be used by adults, the elderly (the elderly should use with caution, not exceeding the recommended adult dose) and children over 12 years. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding do not use this product, unless advised by your doctor. Medicines can affect the unborn baby.
Antibiotics are not normally prescribed for coughs.
Your GP will only prescribe them if you need them – for example, if you have a bacterial infection or you’re at risk of complications.
