Self Care Advice

Constipation is common and can usually be treated at home with simple changes to your diet and lifestyle.

  • Drinking plenty of fluids, avoiding alcohol and increasing the fibre in your diet can help make your poo softer and easier to pass
  • If you feel the urge to poo, don’t delay going to the toilet. Raising your knees above your hips and giving yourself plenty of time to use the toilet can also help.
  • Increasing your activity levels such as going for a walk or run each day can also help you poo more regularly
