How to treat a cough:
Most coughs are caused by cold and flu, but can also be caused by smoking, allergies such as hay fever, infections like bronchitis or by mucus dripping down the throat from the back of the nose.
It is advised to go and see a GP if you’ve had a cough for more than 3 weeks, it is very bad or quickly gets worse or you have chest pain.
Who can use this product:
It can be used by adults, the elderly and children over 1 year. If you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are breastfeeding, use of this product should be avoided unless recommended by a doctor. Medicines can affect the unborn baby.
Antibiotics are not normally prescribed for coughs.
Your GP will only prescribe them if you need them – for example, if you have a bacterial infection or you’re at risk of complications.
