Directions for use

Oral use.

Recommended Doses

Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: One 5ml spoonful, repeated up to four times per day.

Children under 12 years: Not recommended.

What causes coughs?

Most coughs are caused by cold and flu, but can also be caused by smoking, allergies such as hay fever, infections like bronchitis or by mucus dripping down the throat from the back of the nose.

When should I go and see a GP about a cough?

It is advised to go and see a GP if you’ve had a cough for more than 3 weeks, it is very bad or quickly gets worse or you have chest pain.

What are other causes of coughs?

Other causes of coughs include:
  • Smoking
  • Heartburn (acid reflux)
  • Allergies – for example, hay fever
  • Infections like bronchitis
  • Mucus dripping down the throat from the back of the nose

Who can use this product:

It can be used by adults, the elderly and children over 12 years. If you are pregnant, use of this product should be avoided unless recommended by a doctor. Medicines can affect the unborn baby.

 

Did you know?

Antibiotics are not normally prescribed for coughs.

Your GP will only prescribe them if you need them – for example, if you have a bacterial infection or you’re at risk of complications.
